The Cartesian plane ( or number plane ) has a horizontal  x – axis and a vertical  y – axis.

Any point on a Cartesian plane is described by two numbers called  Coordinates.

The  x-coordinate and the  y-coordinate are written in brackets. ( x , y ).

The  x- coordinate is always written first.
